The Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce 2013 Business Leaders Luncheon provides the Black business community with an opportunity to congratulate and honor businesses and individuals playing a significant role in making our community as well as Miami a better place to live and work in.

The Chamber honors businesses and individuals based on professional merit, accomplishments and impact. We encourage you to fill out the application below if you feel your company/organization or entrepreneurial  endeavors should be recognized at this year’s Annual Business Leaders Luncheon.

Categories are as follows: Corporate Business of the Year, Non-Profit Organization of the Year, Small Business of the Year and Rising Star Award (between the ages of 24-35 demonstrating strong leadership and entrepreneurial skills).

ROB BASE

(Robert Ginyard)

Rob Base from Harlem, New York born Robert Ginyard May18, 1967 first began performing with a group called the Sure Shot Seven while in fifth grade. By the time of high school graduation, being only one of the members left in the group rob continued to work on becoming a Platinum Artist. Their first single, “DJ Interview,” appeared on the “Mike and Dave” label, and the second single “make it hot” appeared on “world to World” record label. Rob gained momentum and received a distribution deal with Profile Records by 1988.

The first Profile labeled release, the title track single from their debut album, “It Takes Two”, became a street sensation upon its release in mid 1988. Massive club airplay enhanced its impact considerably. Both the single and the album eventually went multi platinum and Rob Base gained Single of the Year honors both in Spin Magazine and The Village Voice. The second single,, “Get on the Dance Floor’” continued Rob’s dance appeal, and his excellent rapping helped him retain his street credentials. But Rob Base wasn’t done yet because he soon shocked the rap world with another monster smash called “Joy and Pain” which to this day is a classic song that plays all over the world.

In 1989 Rob then dropped a solo release called “The Incredible Base” which included a networking of Edwin Starr’s “War” and is considered an awesome all around classic record. Rob followed that record up with Break Of Dawn featuring one of Rob’s hardest hits “Symphony”, as well as his party anthem “Get Your Hands Up”.

Rob Base is one of the most popular rap stars of all time and has fans all over the world. Even though Rob Base has sold millions and millions of records, he is one of the most down to earth artist you’ll ever meet and that’s why his fans adore him so much. With his music being played all around the world, rob has maintained a humble mindset and still gives his fans a great show. Rob has also made appearances on the Monique Show and TV sitcom “The Game”. Rob continues to enjoy expanding his resume and plans to appear on some upcoming Media projects.

You can catch Rob Base in a town near you as they tour just about every week of the year. Ask anyone who’s ever been to a Rob Base concert and they’ll all tell you Rob Base puts on one of the best shows you’ll ever see.
